I woke up at around 2 am for some reason. I went outside and gazed up at the night sky and found my good friend Orion is back! Scorpius, his nemisis, is leaving, this means the godawful dreaded heat of the Aridzona summer will be outta here soon! Rattlesnake season will be OVER and all the damned ground squirrels will be hibernating.
The only thing I'll miss about summer is the swimming pool.

I think I remember what autumn was----cooler temps and leaves changing colors, right? The only indication I get that it's fall anymore is that they start selling MacIntosh apples in the store. I love my MacIntosh apples.

Here, autumn means the temps get down into the 80's, a huge improvement over the 100's. When it's fall here, I don't have to soak myself in the pool before and after doing anything outside for more than 10 minutes.
If there were real trees in the desert, we'd see some color. Since there aren't, we don't.
The bakery in a local grocery store makes these fabulous Pumpkin Cookies that are like pumpkin bread batter, dropped in spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and baked. omg omg omg they are the best things in the world. They start making them in mid September. I got my first batch of them last weekend. I love fall candle fragrances like pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon and macintosh apples.
In Montana I loved all of the seasons. Here, I like two. Fall and winter. Spring brings too much dread of summer and summer is hell.

You know what? I forgot you were in Arizona! Sorry. So you do know the hell that is triple digit numbers and dread Spring time because it means Summer is next.
I grew up in Vermont and while I'm not a snow fanatic (I miss it between Thanksgiving and Christmas--before and after those dates, I'm fine w/o it), I still miss fall and winter. We have trees here, but they are green all year round. Rain and lower temps are all we get by way of change of seasons and I love it since I've learned to take what I can get.
