Welp, I can wish all day that Guilherme hadn't had to ride Bones, but there you have it. I was very happy for Robson he's riding really well again after all his injuries. I can't wait to watch him next year. Guilherme did not look stricken at not winning the Finals as well as the World Championship lol. I love the fact that his wife and daughter were up there sharing the win! I hope I see Robson win the championship one day. Reece did very well! I'm going to assume that he won Rookie of the Year since no one mentioned it.

Yeah, I think Rookie of the Year is a forgone conclusion for Reese. I'm happy for him.

I'm thrilled for Guilherme! I'm sure he didn't care that much about not winning the event title. I knew the odds were against it when he got Bones. But, the WC was what it was all about this year.

What a surprise seeing Robson win! He's certainly a strong rider, but I was still thinking Guilherme, Reese, JB, Renato........Congratulations Robson!

I wouldn't want to be around JB for a few days..........

There were so many great moments on Sunday. If Guilherme had to get bucked off, I feel like it was truly fitting that it be the bull of the year. Bones is well deserving--I was watching him closely in the chute, and he seemed to be alert to Guilherme's every move. What a crafty devil.

I've always been a fan of Reese Cates. I was at the Atlanta event where he made his BFTS debut. My buddies and I had chuteside seats on the left of the arena, and my 19 year-old daughter and her friends were on the right and down a few sections. Reese took his ride (pretty sure it was a buck-off that first night) and after he was finished and was walking across the arena he took off his helmet and revealed that headful of floppy blond hair. Knowing my daughter's taste in boys I thought to myself "I bet I get a text message in a second" and sure enough, my phone buzzed and there was "OMG! OMG! He's so hawt!" I laughed, and I've been watching him ever since. He seems to be a well-spoken, thoughtful kid, and hopefully as time goes on we'll watch him mature and his riding improve.

I was struck by the differences in Adriano's and Justin's exits. I LOVED how Adriano took out his mouthpiece after his ride, started to stick in back in his pocket, then tossed it in the air to signify "I'm done!"  That was when I started crying, and when Donna Brothers grabbed his arm in the hall I thought I was going to go through the screen and sit on her and make her a little greasy spot.  His "I'm a bullrider!" was a shot to my heart. Tears streamed down my face for a long time. I can't imagine what the back of the chutes is going to be like without him.

And as for Princess McB...well, I'm sure JDub cried, and probably screamed out "I can't quit you, Justin" or some such.  Otherwise, meh for me. I do think he's accomplished some amazing things and he seems to be retiring with the right attitude.  I'm just glad we don't have to listen to ad nauseum praise from the Manlove Club anymore. And I have a sneaking suspicion he's done with it, too.

Robson, yay! Enjoy that new pickup truck!

Thank you FG, for creating this spot for us to chat. Other than my best bud it's hard for me to find other bullriding fans down here in GA. My sweet husband is tolerant, even supportive, of my obsession but he's not a fan, so it's nice to come and and share with y'all.

What a great week! Is it January 9th yet?

I was so annoyed with that Donna person I actually started to contract my hands into fists before I remembered that it was TV and I'd only end up having to buy an expensive new set.  But the gall of her line of questioning!  I wanted her to have to ride Bones, and then Adriano could come up to her with a microphone and ask "Now that your jaw is broken in six places, how do you plan on eating corn on the cob?"

She came perilously near the point of wrecking the whole deal.  She actually reminds me of the sorts of TV reporters who follow tornadoes so they can jerk tears out of the numb, shocked survivors - "Everything you own has been turned into kindling; how do you feel?"

I had to smile at Justin McBride's more or less final comment, when he said "I always think I have to go back and fix it, but not this time, because I don't have to do that any more."  He seemed to exude such a sense of relief that it was all over that I couldn't help but wonder if he wasn't experiencing some dark, unarticulated dread that he was running out of luck and might be seriously injured soon.

And Reese Cates, what a good job he did.  And I think back fondly to the days when I had hair like his.

And as for the Justin McBride Fan Club and Man Love Society, I think JW should set up the headquarters in French Like, Indiana.  With a name like that, how could it be anything but a huge, huge success?

That Donna woman was plain stupid, and she definitely didn't do her homework beforehand.  When she was talking to Justin McBride she said something to the effect that since he was retiring, he could spend more time with his children.  Obviously she had no clue he has only one child.  Just one example out of many dumb things she said Sunday night.
