Shannon, I'm 90% sure that's just the 24 Season 7 premiere: it runs for two hours on Sunday, January 11th (which puts it smack dab in the middle of the final round at Madison Square Garden, darnit, but that's the only time the schedules should clash) and another two hours the next night. After this four-hour premiere the show should be on its regularly scheduled Monday night rotation. I double-checked the 24 websites I visit and none of them had any note of a schedule change, and that would show up like a bombshell among the fans. Of which, I must admit--I love me some Jack Bauer. I could play "where is the bomb?" with that boy any day.
Other than bulls and Bauer, that's kind of it for me and TV.
It's my preference is all, but I kind of like recording the PBR and then after it just ends or is maybe 20 minutes from ending, I'll start up the recording of it at the beginning and then fastforward through all the commercials and distasteful interviews.
I don't watch a lot of regular TV, but the Animal Planet, National Geographic Channel and all the Discovery Channels are up on my list. So in addition to specials like some natural disaster unfolding hypothetically on the Discovery Channel, I always have these particular shows programmed on the trusty DVR (this does not include bull riding-Xtreme Bulls, CBR and PBR). I record Dogtown, The Dog Whisperer, Top Chef, ER, Dirty Sexy Money, Storm Chasers, Kitchen Nightmares, Hell's Kitchen, Dexter, Deranged, any of the ESPN Incredible Dog Challenges, The Shield, Boston Legal, Rescue Me and House. I guess I should put American Idol on there too, but not sure if I'll watch it this year. Sounds like I watch a lot of TV, doesn't it? But I don't really. I'll go for several days without watching TV then all of a sudden I just kind of binge watch for a little while by watching the shows stored on my DVR. It's a weird feeling when I TV binge like this. I feel like some kind of drone with my mind controlled by an alien in The Outer Limits. Afterwards I feel somewhat relieved if only because I've freed up more room on my DVR. The downside to all this? I get incredibly impatient when watching a show in real time and having to endure the commercials.
I used to watch "Lost", but these days I'm not sure if it's still a going concern or if it's just flat fallen off the edge of the world, and honestly after this latest six-month hiatus (or however long it is) I might not even go back.
I don't really have a favorite show, but I do watch "Dr. G Medical Examiner" a lot. It doesn't seem like a particularly good subject for a show ("Witness the incredible simulated autopsy!") but for some reason it grabs me. And I watch "Dirty Jobs" a lot, because Mike Rowe's sense of humor just slays me.
All of this means that my TV viewing schedule doesn't really present any scheduling problems with the PBR!
As an aside, my mom is in her seventies, and someone talked her into getting a DVR. At first she insisted that it was a useless technological excrescence that she would never use, but now she's a total DVR fanatic and doesn't understand how I can stand to approach television without one.

When I first got a VCR, back in the waning years of the Dark Ages, I'd sometimes go out and rent five or six movies and then come home and watch them all in succession with only the occasional break to get more fast food in between. Afterwards I'd feel the same sensation of being programmed, of having surrendered control of the horizontal and vertical and right and wrong and whatnot. And, to make matters worse, I usually couldn't remember the first two or three movies in the binge anyway.
I swear when Dr. G uses those big hedge clippers to break the ribs, it's real! They've got the image of the corpse blurred, and here she is cracking away the ribs. And do they crack! And she's got that sickening look on her face while she's holding those clippers up. Shudder!!! That sound is awful. Even so, I catch myself saying, "Interesting, those ribs came apart with little effort. Must be an older person with severe osteoporosis."
Kaptain Mors, I didn't want a dvr, either. What did we need one for? Now? Couldn't live without it.
Jaye, I don't watch a lot either, although it sounds like I do. I watch American Idol, Amazing Race, Pushing Daisies, Dancing with the Stars, 24, Survivor, Heroes and now, on Friday's we'll start watching Season 2 of Dexter. I'll admit that I prefer recording PBR and zipping through it, too, but with satellite, I can tape it on the East Coast time (usually at 6pm PST) and then sit and watch it at 8pm and be in bed at a decent hour. Now, if 24 stays on Sundays, I'll have to either split up the viewing around 24 and stay up later than usual, or wait until Monday morning.
blackboots, gotta love good old Jack Bauer! "Where's the bomb?" lol!! Sign me up. The premiere is on Jan. 11? Why did I see an ad for Nov. 23rd? I'll have to do some research now. Anyway, hopefully after the premiere, it moves to Mondays. That would make me a happy camper.
Shannon, here's the scoop: On Sunday the 23rd of November there's a 24 movie on Fox ( I think the official title is 24:Redemption). It takes place between the end of Day 6 and the beginning of Day 7. It's two hours long (and in real time, just like the show) and takes place in South Africa, where Jack is working with an old friend. This movie is supposed to bridge the gap between the two seasons. The show hasn't been on since May of 2007, so this movie's been a looooong time coming.
