Rocky Boots Invitational Columbus Ohio

Personally, I thought that if Justin got a 91 on his bull, that Adriano should have at least gotten a 90 on his. I thought Frosty was a faster spinner. I don't think he had quite as much kick as Bad Action, but he looked like a slow turning rocking horse compared to Frosty.

Bones, however, now THAT was an exciting bull to watch. Man oh man. I think he surprised the heck out of Justin. I hope he doesn't fade as quickly as Big Mike and White Magic seem to have done.

I never realized that money was as important as it is in getting to the finals. That's really got my goat lately. I always thought the guys who rode the most and collected the most points went to the finals. That's really um.. oh what's the word.. STUPID.

It is possible, that someone in 50th position could ride 4 bulls all year, win two events and end up in the finals ahead of someone in the top 15 in points for god's sake.

How drunk are the folks that make up the PBR rules?

I've actually read some good arguments both for and against that rule, Jean. I'll have to see if I can find them tomorrow when I have more time.

Bones was great! And, I think that Justin gave him as good of a try as Guilherme gave Fist Full of Dollars last night. As for Justin's 91 points, I don't know if it was worth that score, but it was a good ride, imo.

So, what an....interesting....event/short go. Glad to see that the guys on the bubble are stepping up, but I missed seeing the top riders there.

Welp, I'll have to read some darned good arguments for it to change my mind because as it stands now, I could pump Kap full of enough morphine to win an event (he feels reeeeeeeeal good on that stuff) and send him to the finals.

Oh... you know... I'm going to giggle myself to sleep just thinking about that wheeeeeeze.

I'll get to those arguments later today. But, for now, I want to know what is up with these rank bulls having bad outs this year? It's like an epidemic! First White Magic with Mike Lee, last night it was Blizzard and for the life of me, I can't remember which bull it was, but just a couple of events ago, there was another unridden (or rarely ridden) bull that someone went to 8 on and it was agreed that it was an off day for that bull. I know bulls have off days, but there sure seem to have been a lot of them this year.

I don't know. but you're right. Are any of the bulls that were so rank at the beginning of the year even in contention for bull of the year? How long do bulls live (you know, provided they aren't slated for McDonald's)? Maybe the window on their bucking ability is fairly narrow and these peaked too early? I know they at least buck a couple of years because I've watched some of these bulls on PRCA and XTreme bulls events from a couple of years ago. White Magic was a good bucker in those shows, but something turned on in his head and he started coming out of the chute perpendicular to the ground while slinging his head up a la Bodacious. Now. Nothing. He wasn't even as good in his last out on the PBR as he used to be on the PRCA reruns.

I know I was astounded at how much weight White Magic had put on. He was a bucking muscle at the beginning of the year but I saw mostly fat when he bucked last time. Is there a way to get a military tank (I don't think I'd want to tick off a bull while driving anything with less protection) out in the pasture and chase that bull around for an hour or two a day to get him fit? Are these bulls on any kind of exercise program?

Chicken we can understand because he's been ill. Has it just been a bad year for the bulls as it has been for many of the riders?

Perhaps travel has taken it's toll? I know it stresses horses but I don't know how bad it is for bulls. Horses often won't even want to drink water that smells different from what they have at "home". If they don't drink well, they don't digest well and end up with serious belly aches. There are the stresses of the new sounds, new horses etc. Plus, traveling in an enclosed trailer can give them upper respiratory illnesses. Horses can develop stomach ulcers easily under these conditions, but I don't know about bulls.

I'm still missing Versus Blackout.

I forgot about that theory. Justin McKee brought that up as a possibility. It makes sense.

"I'm still missing Versus Blackout."

80 names! I submitted 80 names to that contest--every one of them original (ok, not all of them were good, but still....). And what do they do? They pick a name that's been registered more than once already.

Not that I'm bitter, though.... evileye.gif
