It's official. The Golden Boy has been announced.

Although, not in so many words. Just the constant kneeling, the not being able to watch 3 consecutive rides without hearing him mentioned, and the fact that at the end of the round tonight we saw Him (insert angellic voices here), instead of the two guys who actually WON the round. Friday night and last night we ended the show with the doofy smile of J.B. Mauney. He did not win tonight but did we see Ross Coleman and Brendan Clark holding the check? Hell no. The only way we even realized who won was not because it was announced, but only because J.W. mentioned that Brendan had moved him up in the announcer's contest. We saw Brendan on a cell phone. There are probably people out there wondering who the hell won tonight, or thinking it was J.B. because we saw a lot of J.B. footage.

That was simply ridiculous!!!  I cannot believe they didn't show Ross and Brendan with the check, and not even mentioning they won was inexcusable.  What the hell were they thinking?

Hated seeing Adriano buck off but really happy to see Guilherme ride three.  Also glad to see Reese Cates with a 90.25 ride.

The bulls looked great although there were many I'd never heard of.  My round favorite, Booger Butt, looked good.

I was surprised when they said J.B. would be picking first in the draft on Thursday.  I thought the round winner went first, but I guess it is who is leading in the Finals points.

Someone mentioned on one of the boards I visit that there could possibly be a rule saying that a rider cannot pick the same bull twice in the draft.  I don't think anyone knows for sure.  I know they couldn't at the World Cup.

Don't forget how he's been seen with a Jack Daniel's girl at least once a night so far! bleh.gif *eyeroll* Anyway, I'm not surprised and think I called that right after Justin announced his retirement. While last night was ridiculous (not showing Ross and Brendan), I still don't think it's going to be as bad as the Justinfest. I'm also not quite as irritated by JB in general as I am Justin, so I don't think it will bother me quite as much. I reserve the right to change my mind, though.

Agreed!

Unfortunately, we started off not caring much for JB so we'll likely be ready to find a new habit by February. If he manages to sweep the finals and win the World Championships we're going to be done. I keep telling myself that no matter what the announcers say, it's just really not possible. At least, it's not possible unless the points fairy gets out of hand.

He's had one to two Jack Daniels girls on each arm since friday night. I told William that either the PBR is not aware that the majority of their fan base is female or they are and they're trying to rope the husbands into watching too. It reminds me of that PBR ad I got in email with the half nekkid "cowgirl" saying she'd be "Bucking All Night!"

gawd... why do I watch this sport again? Oh yes, the bulls. Pay no attention to the tacky garbage behind the curtain.

I don't like hearing that, Jean! I'd hate to not have you and your husband to chat with after and between events. I only have 8 people that I enjoy discussing the PBR with (everyone on this board, SQ and three others on other boards), so losing 2 would be significant. You can tough it out! We'll help.

From what I understand, that was from the Sahara Hotel in Vegas. Not sure if they forwarded it to PBR and PBR sent it out, of if they got the email list from the PBR and did it on their own. Still tacky. At any rate, that's a whole other vent that could get really long, so I won't get into it now--for your sake smile.gif

Well, I'm still counting on the fates being kind to Marchi, although I still find myself scrunched up in a ball (or what passes for one with a fat, stiff body) by the end of his rides.

If Marchi does win, they'd better be doing a great plenty of genuflecting to Guilherme, the way they've done to Justin and are now doing to JB. If not, then their "Well he is the current world champion after all" excuse will fly right out the window of their Super Duty trucks and there will be little doubt left that it's really been an "Amurikan vs damn furiner" thing all along. In that event, at the very least, will not be lining the PBR pockets any more.

I think there are many Guilherme fans doing the same thing. I am, that's for sure.

The appointment of JB! I was half-expecting a trail of black smoke to come out of the top of the Thomas and Mack Center. I do like him, he's just not one of my favorites. I want him to have his "moment"--I just don't want him to have his until Guilherme has had THIS "moment"--and maybe another 20 or so. Reese Cates is my favorite youngun', and it was great to see him get a 90 and score so well in the round.

Pearl Snaps? Cutest. Bull name. EVER. I thought it was a good pen, too. Not as fierce as the rank dudes, but still entertaining to watch.

I have to confess to a Guilherme-watching routine, too. It's a whole bring-the-mojo thing--it involves Brazilian-scented body wash (Caress' name, not mine!)
and a necklace (ironically, I bought it the first morning of Finals) that I keep in a death-grip in my hand while Guilherme rides. If he wins I'll probably rip that thing off my neck! And now you know how weird I am. blush.gif

Question: did McKee subtly drop a hint Sunday night that Guilherme could wrap up the Finals with a ride on Thursday night? I can't figure out that convoluted points system. Is anyone out there crunching numbers?

McKee did in fact drop a subtle hint that Marchi could lock things up with a ride on Thursday.  Does something else have to happen?  Does Lostroh have to buck off again, or JB buck off?  I don't know because I can't figure out the point system, and normally I'm not half-bad at math.  I crunch numbers all the time, but not PBR numbers; they seem to be composed of a substance that confuses me.  "If JB rides and scores less than 89, and it's an even-numbered date, and Friday, then that's 280 bonus points, unless the moon is waning in the house of Capricorn, in which case it's 210 bonus points plus sixteen provisional points of the next man to ride wears green chaps or has the word "Oldsmobile" written on his clothing somehwere..."

It stands to reason that if Guilherme keeps riding, he will at some point become immune to failure (as they say).  But I don't know if it's just one more ride, or two more, or if it depends on what JB or Valdiron or Kody do...  The scoring system is about as complicated as fantasy baseball, and I think they make it really complicated on purpose to keep duffers like me out.

I don't know if I have a Guilherme ritual.  I probably do, I just don't realize it.  It probably involves holding my breath and making involuntary gagging sounds.

What does a Brazilian-scented body wash smell like?  Is there an equivalent Finnish-scented body wash, or are we pale Northern European types SOL when it comes to body wash scents?  Or, worse yet, does the Finnish-scented body wash smell like a combination of vodka and kippers?

According to the Caress folks, Brazil smells like passion fruit. So when standing in the aisles at Target, faced with the decision of smelling like Morocco (myrrh? or something that one of the Three Kings toted) or Brazil, I chose Brazil. And everytime I've used it, Guilherme wins. Go figure, but I'm sticking with my plan.

And if we're going to do Finnish Body Wash then I guess we'd better do the countries in the World Cup, too. So what does Canada smell like? Or Mexico? Or the US of A?  Maybe this is the next big marketing op for the PBR. biggrin

OR better yet...Eau de Bull.

Hopefully Thursday won't turn into the JB Show. Sometimes I think the broadcasters use the "language barrier" excuse for not covering Guilherme as much as they could. From what I can tell, he communicates just fine with the other riders in English, and his blog post on the PBR Board reads just fine (and you can tell he wrote it himself, which is pretty endearing to me.)

Brazil smells like passion fruit.  This would be helpful if I knew what passion fruit smelled like.  What color of Skittle is passion fruit??  I bought a tropical fruit once that had gone past its prime and I kid you not, it smelled just like canned tuna fish.  Which is good if you're spreading it on a slab of bread, but when you're considering cubing the thing and eating it with a bamboo skewer.

Canada, it seems to me, should smell like bacon, and I could continue in this politically incorrect vein for some time assuming I didn't come to my senses.

Eau de Bull is a curious odor.  I don't mind it one way or the other, but I've heard bull riders describe it as being akin to heaven.  Then again, I knew a woman who thought diesel fuel was a potent cologne, so what do I know?
